Recruitment Night - October 24th
8 - 10 PM
C3 Sports - 200 Ellis Pl, State College
Join us for an off-skates introduction to SCAR and Roller Derby!
We will discuss what SCAR Derby is about, and how you can become a part of the roller derby community as a player, an official - on or off skates, or as a volunteer.
We will be presenting information on the gear you will need, introducing the basics of the sport, and current league members will be available for a Q & A. We will not be skating, but please wear sneakers and comfortable clothing you can move around in, because we will be doing some activities.
Don't forget to bring some water! Please leave the family at home, as we ask that only those interested in joining come to this event. Can't make it on the 24th? We would love to have you join us on 10/27, 10/31, and/or 11/3, but we still request that you completed our sign-up form.
Want to get in on the action? SCAR is always looking for enthusiastic and fearless "Fresh Cuts". Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby is a full contact sport for women ages 18 and up. The WFTDA has a very inclusive view on gender, and SCAR provides a welcoming and accepting environment for anyone who wants to play women’s flat track roller derby. Interested in being a skating official? We would love to have you and we'll teach you all you need to know! No experience with derby or skating necessary! Many of SCAR's skaters joined recruitment with little to no skating background.
New to Roller Derby? Check out information for newcomers on WFTDA's site. →
Do you love watching Roller Derby or just want to see what it’s all about? Volunteer to be a Non-Skating Official (NSO) at our next bout! We need sharp and eager people to help us keep track of our fast-paced games. As a SCAR NSO, you’ll get free entry to the game and an up close and personal view of the action. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re interested.
